The referee signs off on the wrist.

The referee view puts the live game report on the referee’s phone: score, penalties and play-by-play, with their own penalties sent to the table as proposals. During the game every goal, penalty and goalkeeper change pops up on the referee’s smartwatch to confirm or decline with one tap, so the report is checked while the game is still on the ice.

Who uses it: Referees and linespersons. The scorekeeper sees their confirmations and proposals at the table.

How it works

  1. Get assigned

The organizer assigns the referees to the game; once it opens, it appears on their phone.

  2. Follow the report

Score, clock, strength, running penalties and every event, sized for a phone.

  3. Confirm on the wrist

Each goal, penalty and goalkeeper change arrives on the smartwatch. Tap Confirm or Decline; several events stack up with their own timers and a Confirm all.

  4. Propose, do not overwrite

Penalties entered by the referee go to the scorekeeper as proposals and are marked as the referee’s entry once accepted.

  5. Review and close

The confirmations feed the final review, so questions are settled at the rink.

What you can do

One tap per event

Goal, penalty or goalkeeper change: confirm or decline on the watch without taking the phone out.

Silence means yes
No reaction within two minutes counts as confirmed, and every league can set its own time.
Declines never delete
A decline marks the event as disputed for the scorekeeper. Nothing disappears from the report.
Penalties as proposals
A penalty entered by the referee lands at the table as a proposal and goes into the report once accepted.
Apple Watch and Wear OS
Actionable notifications on both watch platforms, later as native watch apps.

A disputed goal

Walkthrough

The table records a goal by #19. The referee saw #21 score.

  1. The watch buzzes: Goal home, #19, 12:31.

  2. The referee taps Decline.

  3. At the table, the goal is marked as disputed.

  4. In the next stoppage the scorekeeper corrects the scorer to #21 and the referee confirms.

Tips from the rink

  • Turn on Confirm all for the intermission: one tap clears a stack of routine events.

  • Leagues can shorten or lengthen the automatic confirmation time to match how their referees work.

  • The phone can stay in the dressing room during play; the watch is enough.

Questions

Can a referee change the report directly?

No. Referee entries are proposals and declines only mark an event as disputed. The scorekeeper makes the change, and the report records where it came from.

Which watches work?

Apple Watch and Wear OS watches, through actionable notifications from the HockeyOnline app on the paired phone.

What if the referee does not react?

After two minutes the event counts as confirmed. Each league can change that time.
