The scoresheet that keeps up with the game.

HockeyOnline’s live scoresheet is where the scorekeeper records the game: goals, penalties, goalkeeper changes, timeouts, periods, overtime and shootouts. It runs full screen on a laptop, tablet or phone, puts each team’s goal and penalty buttons on its own side, keeps the play-by-play in the middle, and does the rulebook maths for you while the puck is still moving.

Who uses it: The scorekeeper at the officials’ bench. On small nights the same person also runs the clock and reads the announcements.

How it works

  1. Open the game

Pick tonight’s game from the league schedule. Rosters, team colors and the league’s rules load in one go.

  2. Check the lineups

Jersey numbers, starting goalkeepers, captains and team colors, all on one screen before faceoff.

  3. Record the game

Goal and penalty buttons for each team on its own side, play-by-play in the middle, clock on top.

  4. Let the rules engine work

Strength, power-play expiry and coincidental penalties are worked out as you type; mistakes are flagged on the spot.

  5. Close and send

Guided review, then the final report goes to the league server and the printouts are ready.

What you can do

Goals without the paperwork

Time, scorer, done. Strength is suggested from the running penalties, an empty-net goal is suggested when the goalkeeper is off, and on a power-play goal the minor that ends is picked for you.

Every penalty in one dialog
Minor, double minor, major plus game misconduct, misconduct, match penalty, penalty shot and bench minor. Search the offence, pick the player, and the correct report lines are created.
The rulebook watches with you
A second major, a player back on the ice after a game misconduct, a scorer who is not in the lineup, a time outside the period: HockeyOnline says so while you can still fix it.
Fix mistakes on the spot
Edit goals and penalties right on the timeline, or undo the last entry. Assists, plus/minus and penalty ends are recalculated automatically.
Overtime and shootout included
Alternating shooters, sudden death and an automatic end. Players with a running penalty are blocked from shooting.
Made for fingers and mice
Large targets for touch, keyboard shortcuts for laptops, and a full-screen mode with a screen lock, so nothing scrolls away mid-game.

A power-play goal, start to finish

Walkthrough

Away team #4 is serving two minutes for hooking. The home team scores at 14:45 of the first period.

  1. Tap Goal on the home side.

  2. Type 14:45 on the keypad.

  3. Tap #7 as the scorer and #12 for the assist.

  4. HockeyOnline has already set the strength to PP1 and ended the minor of #4.

  5. Tap Done. The score reads 1:0, the penalty clock disappears and the play-by-play shows the goal.

Tips from the rink

  • Enter the time first and the scorer second: the keypad is built for exactly that order, even with gloves on your mind.

  • Not sure about an assist? Save the goal now and add the assist from the timeline later; nothing else needs to change.

  • Turn on full-screen mode before faceoff so a stray swipe never takes you out of the game.

What’s in it

Questions

Can I use HockeyOnline instead of eGREP for the scoresheet?

Yes, that is what it is built for. HockeyOnline records the live game and writes the same game file and the same uploads as eGREP, so the league sees no difference.

What devices does the scoresheet run on?

Any current browser: iPad, Android tablets, phones, Windows and Mac laptops.

Does it count the clock up or down?

Both. The keypad follows your league’s setting, so you type the time the way your clock shows it.
